Portraits from Imagination

11.03.2015:

Best day ever! I met with a new possible client today and it was great. He is really nice, knows exactly what he wants and we agreed on the contract :3 That said for the next two months I will be flooded with work, but I will try and keep up my daily sketches.
Yesterday evening I went to celebrate with a friend of mine over dinner which we also used to draw. I don't like the little fellow above very much but I learned a lot. You will see what I mean in my next upload tomorrow : )

After I drew the last sketch, I felt really bad because I didn't like it at all. That said as soon as I was home I sat down again and drew this little fellow. And I'm in love! I'm slowly getting the grasp of where to discontinue lines, where to increase their thickness and how to hatch. Also he looks like a man, which for me is amazeballs! Normally all my characters have one face which is very womanly, haha ^^

Princess Bubblegum

02.03.2015:
princess bubblegum (w.i.p., photoshop cc)

I really love 2015. I made a lot of decision which hopefully will help me to grow as an artist and a person and therefor I'm really excited to see the results end of the year. For now I just enjoy the journey until then.

One of those decisions was to start doing fanart. I mostly kept away from it in the past, because I somehow feel it limits you in your creativity. Because the design, clothing etc is already defined. But the good thing about it is, that you really can concentrate on an interesting composition, pose and art style.

So here are the sketch, lines as well as flat colors for my interpretation of Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. I love this series a lot! ♡

I created my own costume for her based on the original design and went with my own color palette as well. Next will be the rendering. I really would love to give kind of jelly see-through hair.  Let's see if I will manage ;)

Gap between 30.06.2014 and 01.03.2015

Info

I stopped uploading my art back in the middle of 2014, because I mostly did work related art. That said I wasn't and still am not allowed to show what I did because of the NDAs I signed.

Now I see how stupid that was, so even if I didn't do much personal work in 2014 I will upload everything in the next couple of weeks and assign it to the specific dates. I'm quite diligent in regard of giving everything a date and saving every single sketch. So it should be possible :)

Until then I will start uploading my daily progress again from now on, so stay tuned for the 2nd of March 2015 :D

PS: I will reduce the gape in the title of the post accordingly to my upload-progress.

Viking Girl III.

22.02.2015:

And I revisited her yet again! =^.^= I sketched her back in Nov. 2013 in my back then new sketchbook as part of a contest. I never submitted the image, because she didn't look viking enough. But I always liked here.

I while later I painted her in photoshop again. But somehow messed up her face, which resulted in losing a lot of her character.

Now in regard of my personal challenge (inking and colouring all pages in my sketchbook) I revisited her again. She was already coloured, but very pale so I spiced her up. I really like how it came out and I'm getting more and more comfortable with copic markers.

Here the links to the old versions: sketch & digital

Character Portrait

09.02.2015:

After deciding to fill my sketchbook with color I still wanted to keep sketching and create new stuff. Simply now I would directly ink and color them so that my sketchbooks will never be grey again : D

One evening we had a lot of friends over for D&D and one of them asked me if that's a sticker book? (pointing at this page of my sketchbook) Haha. Due to the bold egg shaped background it must have seemed that way from afar^^

World Design

29.01.2015:

Hi guys! I personally really like to design buildings, characters, etc. Simple verything you need to define a world. But (for now at least) I don't have any ideas for stories which might take place in it. That said I always gave up really soon. Until I realised just recently that you can happily focus on designing worlds and people are still interested in it. =)

I'm sure that was obvious to a lot of people but I didn't have a clue beforehand. So here some sketches for the home of one of the shown characters and different takes on the characters silhouettes. Enjoy!
